[60]Fullerene-contg. liq. crystals have reached a high degree of sophistication from the point of view of both their structure and mesomorphic properties. Owing to their unique photophys. and electrochem. characteristics, [60]fullerene-based liq. crystals are promising compds. for the development of nanotechnol. by the bottom-up approach. Indeed, good studies have shown that liq.-cryst. fullerenes can play a major role in electron transport and photoconduction, and photoinduced electron and/or energy transfer has been achieved in donor-acceptor dyads when combined with ferrocene, tetrathiafulvalene, or oligophenylenevinylene. ; We present our ongoing development of a compact (<1.5 liters) and high-performance (10-14 at 104 s) laser-pumped Rubidium clock for space applications like, e.g., satellite navigation systems (GALILEO). A compact laser head was developed that includes frequency stabilization of the pump light to a reference cell. Recent clock stability results obtained with this laser head reach 2⋅10-13 at 1000s, limited mainly by residual cell temperature coefficients and light shift effects. We discuss strategies to overcome these limitations and the relationship between the stabilities of the pump laser and the clock. Comparisons of the laser and clock frequency stabilities are presented for stabilization to both Doppler and sub-Doppler spectroscopy. - PublicationMétadonnées seulement

;Ludolph, Hendrik ;Babin, GilbertThe demand for Software as a Service is heavily increasing in the era of Cloud. With this demand comes a proliferation of third-party service offerings to fulfill it. It thus becomes crucial for organizations to find and select the right services to be integrated into their existing tool landscapes. Ideally, this is done automatically and continuously. The objective is to always provide the best possible support to changing business needs. In this paper, we explore an artificial neural network implementation, an LRAAM, as the specific oracle to control the selection process. We implemented a proof of concept and conducted experiments to explore the validity of the approach. We show that our implementation of the LRAAM performs correctly under specific parameters. We also identify limitations in using LRAAM in this context. - PublicationMétadonnées seulementA method to optimize ship maneuvers for the coordination of hardkill and softkill weapons within a frigate(2002-1-22)
;Blodgett, Dale ;Plamondon, Pierrick ;Chaib-draa, Brahim; Bossé, EloiThe coordination of anti-air warfare hardkill and softkill weapon systems is an important aspect of command and control for a Frigate. Since the effectiveness of a particular weapon varies depending on the orientation of the Frigate with respect to the threats faced, a key element of the coordination process is to maneuver the Frigate to most effectively use all the weapons available. This paper shows that the environment surrounding the Frigate can be divided into six fundamental sectors for weapon engagement. The method to determine the general effectiveness of each sector for the threats faced is shown. A naïve Bayes method that determines the optimal positioning of the Frigate to most effectively use the hardkill and softkill weapons is presented. Also discussed are the different types of planners that were investigated for planning engagements for the hardkill and softkill weapon systems. Preliminary results comparing and rating these planners are shown, both with and without the recommended maneuvers. - PublicationMétadonnées seulementA multidisciplinary approach of activity development : three examples from the perspective of the Clinic of Activity(2011-1-1)
