Repository Presentation

The libra portal is the institutional repository of the University of Neuchâtel, created with the aim of achieving three primary objectives.

  • First and foremost, it seeks to offer a global presentation of the multiple scientific contributions of UniNE and increase their visibility,
  • Next, it aims to provide professors and collaborators with the broadest possible access to their publications in compliance with the principles of Open Access,
  • Finally, it provides UniNE professors and collaborators with a publication list management system.

To achieve these goals, the libra repository utilizes DSpace and DSpace-CRIS technology. DSpace is widely used digital repository software that archives, preserves and provides access to digital content such as research articles, theses, and more. On the other hand, DSpace-CRIS is an extension of DSpace that manages additional information such as research data, projects, and profiles of researchers. This allows libra to provide users with a more complete and enriched user experience by integrating the management of publications with the management of other research-related information.

FAIR Principles:

In the context of research accessibility and open science data, and more broadly, data sharing and openness, Libra now utilizes DSpace software designed according to FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable).
Additionally, the repository is connected to the library management system (Swisscovery), and any new additions to Libra are reported in the catalog through a daily job.

OAI-PMH:

OAI-PMH, which stands for the Open Archives Initiative - Protocol for Metadata Harvesting, allows for the harvesting of metadata from Libra. This means that institutions interested in accessing Libra's metadata can do so using the following address:
https://libra.unine.ch/server/oai/request
If any institution is interested in implementing access to Libra via this protocol, we would be delighted to receive notification at contact.libra@unine.ch.
