Abstract
Considered as a political and media ritual, the television debate between the two rounds of the French presidential election offers a real confrontation between the two candidates. The logometric analysis of the six French debates, which occurred since their creation in 1974, enables to examine the 'lexical surface' developed for that occasion. According to the media apparatus which excludes journalists and citizens from participating to the discussion as well as the pregnance of liberal and managerial discourses, the political debate co-constructed by duelists, goes off the basics of democracy e.g. : the diversity of points of views regarding to country characteristics, ideologies and values confrontation, susceptible to guide the future plan of the next French President.
