Résumé
Methane is oxidized by air in acetonitrile solution to give methyl hydroperoxide (easily reduced to methanol), formaldehyde and formic acid in the presence of [NBu<sub>4</sub>]VO<sub>3</sub>–pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid as the catalyst and H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> as a promoter.
