Resumen: Este artículo examina el tema de la amada abandonada en cuatro textos de Lope de Vega en los que el motivo mezcla dos subtextos de procedencias diversas: una clave biográfica evidente, aunque totalmente pasada por el tamiz literario (el intento de suicidio de Belisa y Filis) y una fuente culta (el suicidio de Dido y Porcia). Analizando estos cuatro textos, que datan de la etapa de juventud y senectute, proponemos también cómo Lope pudo dar con la idea de esta conjunción inspirándose en un romance anónimo («La desesperada Dido») que resulta ser la fuente del célebre «De pechos sobre una torre».
Abstract: This article examines the theme of the abandoned lover in four texts by Lope de Vega in which the motif combines two subtexts of different origin: a conspicuous biographical key, although absolutely filtered by literature (Belisa’s and Filis’ attempted suicide), and an erudite source (Dido’s and Portia’s suicide). Analyzing these four texts, dating from Lope’s youth and senectute periods, we also suggest how Lope could have come up with the idea of combining these strains inspiring himself in an anonymous romance («La desesperada Dido») that appears to be the source of the famous «De pechos sobre una torre».
