Abstract
A new complex N-(2-hydroxyethylamino)ethylsalicylaldiminato]-palladium(II) chloride [Pd(L)Cl] was synthesized by the reaction in ethanol of the Schiff base 2-(2-(2-hydroxyethylamino)ethylimino)methyl phenol (LH) and Li2PdCl4. The complex was characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR and UVeVis spectroscopic techniques. The structure of the complex was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis. The electrochemical properties of PdCl2 and [Pd(L)Cl] have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry. Additionally, the electronic structure, the solution spectrum and the redox property of [Pd(L)Cl] have been rationalized by DFT and TDDFT methods.
