Les emplois modaux du futur et de l'imparfait: analyse contrastive italien-français avec un regard sur la diachronie
2017, Ricci, Claudia, Rossari, Corinne
The aim of this dissertation is the critical description of the modal exploitation of two verb tenses: the future tense and the imperfect tense, whose modal uses are investigated in a contrastive perspective, considering two languages of the same stock – French and Italian – and two levels of analysis: the synchronic level and the diachronic level. The research work opens with a qualitative study, within a theoretical framework developed with the aim to account for the general functioning mechanisms of forms liable to have modal exploitations. The qualitative study is then integrated by a quantitative analysis, in which frequencies and rates of the different modal uses of the tenses considered here are calculated on synchronic and diachronic corpora through specific corpus tools and platforms.
