Abstract
The aim of this paper is to show how the funerals of the counts and dukes of Savoy evolved in the long term, starting from the XIVth century, then focusing on the period between the middle of the XVth century and the 1530s.
Particular emphasis is given to the role played by the prince’s body in funerary rituals and in the transfer of power process (two-stage funeral, chivalric offering ceremony, ritual proclamations).
