Abstract
The title compound, C<sub>6</sub>H<sub>7</sub>CH<sub>2</sub>COOH, is formed by a standard Birch reduction of phenylacetic acid. As expected, a centrosymmetric head-to-tail dimer is observed in the solid state, formed through O-HO hydrogen bonds.
