Abstract
The <i>N</i>-methoxycarbonyl-5,6-dihydro-4-pyridone (<b>1</b>) undergoes photochemical [2 + 2] cycloaddition with a series of differently substituted alkenes in high yield and with extremely high regioselectivity.
