Indicatif, subjonctif et engagement du locuteur

In this paper, we investigate the type of pragmatic adjustments that occur when the indicative alternates with the subjunctive in subordinate clauses introduced by intellective verbs. Our main claim is that when the alternation modifies the speaker's epistemic attitude, the embedded eventuality is reassessed in terms of possibility with the subjunctive and in terms of probability with the indicative.
