Abstract
4'-Formyl-2-diphenylphosphinoacetophenone (I) was prepd. in 4 steps (50%) starting from terephthalate mono(diethylacetal). Condensation of I with the para-substituted anilines gives quant. the phosphineimines Ph2PCH2C(O)C6H4-4-CH:NC6H4-4-OC(O)C6H4-4-OR (R = dodecyl, hexadecyl, octadecyl). Ph2PCH2C(O)C6H4-4-X (X = CH(OEt)2, CH(O), CH:NC6H4-4-OC(O)C6H4-4-OR; R = dodecyl) instantaneously react with Pd(acac)2 (Hacac = acetylacetone) to yield cis-[Pd([4'-RC6H4]C(O):CHPPh2]2] (R' = CH(OEt)2, CH(O), CH:NC6H4-4-OC(O)C6H4-4-OR).
