The Oscilloquartz department (Ebauches S.A.) delivered this high-precision time centre to the Instituto Geográfico Militar in Buenos Aires, where it was intended for the determination, maintenance, and dissemination of official time. The three-bay installation was built around a Oscillatom B 5000, on the left-hand; the central section contained equipment for generating and distributing time signals, including digital time displays, a converter from mean solar time to sidereal time, and a time-signal programmer; and the right-hand section incorporated short- and long-wave receivers and measuring equipment for comparing broadcast time signals and VLF standard-frequency transmissions with the local atomic standard. Contemporary reports described the installation as the most modern time centre of its kind in South America, with the Oscillatom specified to an accuracy better than one microsecond per day.
