Title
Map of the world tour of the Oscillatom
Description
Two Oscillatom clocks left Neuchâtel on 29 March 1967 and reached New York in early April, where they were exhibited at the newly opened Swiss Center. They were then taken to the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, and to the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., for time-comparison tests; while in Washington, they were also shown at the Embassy of Switzerland and the Smithsonian Institution. After a further comparison in Ottawa at the National Research Council, the clocks continued to Montreal. There, one Oscillatom was installed at the Expo 67 Time Center, while the other returned by air to Switzerland. After the fair closed, the Oscillatom that had remained in Montreal continued on to the Far East, stopping in Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, and Manila, before returning to Neuchâtel on 8 December 1967, at the end of a journey of about 50,000 km.
