Abstract
Describes the art historian Alfred Woltmann's relationship to the dispute involving Hans Holbein the Younger's Meyer Madonna (Darmstadt, Schlossmuseum, 1526-1528/1529) and a painting in the Dresden Gemaldegalerie now determined to be a copy after the Holbein by Bartolomaus Sarburgh. Discusses the work of the restorer Andreas Eigner and the connoisseur Ralph Nicholson Wornum in relation to the dispute.
