Abstract
The portrait of Hurtado de Mendoza painted by Titian is important for its place in art history, as well as for giving inspiration to three poems by Aretino, Piccolomini and Silva. So, it is placed in a crossroads between poetry, art, politics, and the dynamics of patronage of the time, and it allows to examine the esthetical bet and the strategy of writing of each poet face to the same model and in competition with the others.
