Abstract
The synthesis of a pyrazol analogon of porphobilinogen is described. The Mukaiyama crossed aldol reaction is the key step of our approach. The retrosynthetic analysis follows the mechanism for the biosynthesis of porphobilinogen initially proposed by <i>Shemin</i>.
