Abstract
en este trabajo examinamos cómo Lope de Vega utilizó uno de los blancos satíricos más importantes de la comedia nueva: el lindo. para ello, comenzamos presentando brevemente una serie de conceptos —como la diferencia entre género y sexo— pertenecientes al campo de los «masculinity studies» que resultan de utilidad para analizar los lindos de Lope. a continuación, estudiamos qué era un lindo para los escritores áureos y nos centramos en una de sus características: el tocado, adornado por guedejas, tufos y copetes. tras notar la presencia de estos peinados en otras obras de Lope (las rimas de Tomé de Burguillos), las examinamos en una comedia urbana del Fénix, De cosario a cosario, en la que el tema de los lindos es fundamental para la trama. al hacerlo descubrimos que, más que retratar un tipo existente, Lope contri- buyó a crear una figura ridícula que se perpetuó en la literatura de la época y que le servía para fustigar la cultura de la juventud del momento, cuyo gusto poético y teatral también consideraba deleznable.
this article examines how Lope de Vega used one of the most prevalent satirical targets in the comedia nueva: the lindo. to do so, we will begin by briefly presenting a series of concepts —such as the difference between gender and sex—, belonging to the field of masculinity studies, which are very useful when an- alyzing Lope’s lindos. then we will study what was a lindo for golden age spanish writers, and we will focus on one of his traits: his hairdo, adorned with guedejas (long locks), tufos (ear-covering curly locks) and copetes (tupés). after having noticed these dos in other woks by Lope (such as the rimas de Tomé de Burguillos), we examine them in an urban comedy of his, De cosario a cosario, a play in which the lindos are essential to the main plot. By analyzing it, we discover that, more than portraying an existing type, Lope contributed to create a ridiculous figure that was perpetuated in the literature of the time, and that he used to criticize the youth culture of his time, whose poetic and dramatic taste he found equally awful
