Abstract
In this article, we first show how a sociolinguistic analysis of verbal interactions in the workplace has enabled to create two reference schemes for language skills in the cleaning industry, each combined with an assessment tool. We then go on to describe how professional training further separates technical and language skills, although both are essential for all employees, whatever their job description. We therefore propose to integrate both technical and language skills within a single training program.
