“Arte y bocabvlario de la lengva de los indios chaymas…: una empresa lingüística del aragonés Fray Francisco de Tauste”

The Arte y bocabvlario de la lengva de los indios chaymas by the
Aragonese monk Francisco de Tauste has a triple testimonial and documentary value: first, it is a particular linguistic undertaking from an amerindian language, which is inserted fully in the complex linguistic labor that the American evangelization supposed; second, it is a testimony of the history of the Spanish language in colonial America; and third, from the point of view of the Aragonese philology, it is testimony and documentation of aragonesisms and even one reference to Aragonese language in the 17th century; in addition it comes to emphasize the Aragonese contribution to the New World during the first two colonial centuries. This contribution will consist of describing and developing basically this triple facet on this text
