Résumé
The sonnet «En vano oprimes con la mano impura», included in Lope de Vega’s Corona trágica (1627), comments the personal emblem that Hortensio Félix Paravicino directed against his detractors, but at the same time shows the preoccupations that characterize Lope’s de senectute period: his harassment at the hands of the hypocrite and envious. In this way, Lope defended Paravicino’s interests and, at the same time, vented his own.
